| LARGE EASTERN PAINTED TURTLES FOR SALE The eastern painted turtle is a colorful basking turtle with a smooth, dark, flattened carapace that has red markings around the edge and a yellow plastron. These turtles have a greenish head and neck with wavy yellow lines along with red and yellow stripes on the legs and tail.
They grow to about 8 or 9 inches long and the males tend to be a bit smaller. Painted turtles can be found in ponds, marshes, streams and rivers and often bask in the sun on rocks or logs. At the first sign of danger, they will retreat back to the safety of the water. They are omnivorous and love turtle pellets, vegetation and small fish. They can live over 30 years!

Their senses of smell are so strong that they have even been used by the police in certain cases. They are the largest of all fresh water turtles native to the United States.

| JUMBO MISSISSIPPI MAP TURTLES FOR SALE GREAT FOR A LARGE POND Mississippi Maps are great beginner turtles. They may be among the more shy species of turtles to keep, but overall care is the same as sliders & painted turtles. Higher water quality is a little more important for this species. They are avid swimmers and love to bask as well. Because they are such excellent swimmers, they will do best in set-ups with deeper waters. Mississippi map turtles are usually good community turtles. Being of a more timid nature they seldom show aggression. They are omnivores and do really well with turtle pellets and warm up to vegetation in their diets as they get older. You’ll enjoy seeing their beautiful and intricate markings, which is how they got their name, as they swim and bask in your pond.

| JUMBO SOFT SHELL TURTLES FOR SALE The name “Soft Shell” really does come from the carapace of these turtles and the fact that it is indeed, soft. The carapace is best described as leathery and flat, with somewhat flexible edges. Softshells are known to bury themselves in the mud and sand at the bottoms of rivers and lakes in the shallows and use their snorkel-like nostrils for breathing! Their colors are generally associated with the area they are native to, but typically are a very pretty, brownish color. Their long necks allow them to keep their bodies submerged for long periods of time, which is how they remain diurnal and get through the winter. They can grow quite large, and the carapace of a female softshell can reach up to several feet in diameter!
