• The Western Painted Turtle is native the ponds, marshes, lakes and slow-moving rivers of southern Canada, the United States, and northern Mexico. They are beautiful animals that love the soft, muddy bottoms of these types of areas. The neck, feet and tail, and the carapace-edge have a really pretty red and yellow striped design that gives this turtle its painted look. Depending on the particular species, the designs can be very intricate and bold.
• Aquariums for housing painted turtles should be at least 40 gallons per adult. They will need an area to bask. The painted turtle spends the majority of its time in the water, but if you’re quiet, you'll be able to spy on a colorful painted turtle lying in the sun on rocks or the floating logs in your pond.

• Softshells are recognized by their carapace and the lack of bony scutes of our other turtles. The shell is flat and leathery with very flexible edges. You could say that it looks like a pancake! The nose tapers to a point and resembles a snorkle which they use to breathe when they bury themselves in mud or sand at the bottoms of rivers or lakes.
  The turtles are pale to a medium brown color, with the males having more dark-spotting than the females. They should be kept singularly or in pairs and given the opportunity to bask in temperatures around eighty-five degrees. They are omnivorous creatures and considered to be pretty shy and fun to observe.

  The African Side Neck Turtle is also commonly referred to as the African Helmeted Turtle. They are commonly known for thier inability to fully retract thier head into their shell. Instead, they generally lay their head and neck to the side. They have been known to reach a maximum size at full maturity of 13 inches. Their carapace exhibits a color scheme that can range from greenish brown to brown hue. Their Plastron is characterized by being yellowish color with black blotches and black seems. The African Side Neck Turtle exhibits a mouth posture that commonly resembles a smiling face.

• The Matamata is one of nature's unique species that stands in a genus by itself.  It is a fascinating animal that displays numerous exotic features.  One is their peculiar technique used  for hunting their prey.  They actually suck the fishes into their throats, and at the same time they expelled the water out. The Matamata is a turtle but also it has many properties or characteristics that have been compare to those of crocodiles.  If we take a close  look to this turtle we will find many features similar to the features of a crocodile.
