The Pink Belly Side Neck Turtle is generally referred to as the Northern Short Neck Turtle. They are native to the tropical regions of New Guinea and Australia. The maximum size achieved for this species is approximately 10” at full maturity. The coloration range for their plastron varies based on age. As a hatchling they will exhibit a color scheme that ranges from pink to red, while adults exhibit a paler shade of yellowish orange.

The Gibba Side Neck Turtle generally posses a carapace that ranges in color from a dull shade of black to a dark gray or a rich brown hue. Their plastron coloration can range from a yellowish hue to a dark reddish brown hue with brown spots positioned on each scute. The Gibba Side Neck Turtles neck and head regions are generally a reddish brown to a deep gray on the outer section; and a whitish yellow on the under section; they generally posses a set of barbels under their chin. Their tail and limbs are normally a grayish shade of black on the outer section and a yellow hue on the under sections. The Gibba Side Neck reaches a mature size of approximately 9”.

The Pearl River Map Turtles is categorized in the same group as the Mississippi Map Turtle, which is the Broad-head classification. This grouping is a result of their crustacean consumption. They posses a highly domed carapace as hatchlings, that will wear down with age. Pearl River Map Turtles exhibit a good deal of orange present on their marginal scutes.
 


Their carapace and skin coloration is generally brown with an arrangement of yellow and orange present on each scute. Their plastron has a whitish, yellow hue and lacks any substantial pattern.
