The Albino Slider is yet another opportunity for a Breeder to illustrate the ability to remove pigmentation from a species. They are generally considered yet another color morph or hybrid is selective breeding projects. Hatchlings display a bright yellow hue. This same hue will fade to creamy shade of yellow as they mature. They will also demonstrate the common bands present on the Red Ear Slider, but instead of the more common red bands, you will instead see an orange hue, as a result of the lack of pigmentation.

Mata Matas reach a maximum size of approximately 18” at full maturity. This exotic species is considered to be truly extraordinary. They appearance resembles that of leaf debris at the bottom of a river. This facade affords them the ability to blend into their native habitat. Their carapace exhibits a range of colors including red, brown and black. This array of colors as well as the rough texture to their skin compliments their ability to remain camouflaged from predators. They generally posses a broad head and pointed nose. Hatchling Mata Matas often exhibit lighter colorations that vary from a whitish to yellow hue.

Blandings Turtle

Emydoidea Blandingii

Turtles for Sale

Adoption / Export / Education

The Blanding’s Turtle exhibits a smooth arched carapace that is often somewhat elongated. The backdrop for their carapace coloration is normally black to brown with a sequence of yellow speckles splattered on every scute. This same pattern can also be visible on their head, as well. The plastron of a Blanding’s Turtle is very similar in appearance to that of a North American Wood Turtle exhibiting either deep golden to a pale yellowish hue, with black spots displayed on every scute. Interestingly enough the Blanding’s Turtles are rather extraordinary in that their plastron designs vary from one Blanding’s Turtle to another. They also closely resemble the long neck structure exhibited on a Chicken Turtle. This characteristic sets them apart from the vast array of species present in North America. However, unlike the Chicken Turtle the Blanding’s Turtle has a profound patch of yellow that extends from the chin section all the way down the neck. The Blanding’s Turtle displays and iris that can range from a deep brown to a lush red and a facial expression that gives the illusion that they are constantly smiling. This is due in part to the notch that is located on the upper jaw. They posses a scale pattern of a pale yellow hue on their legs that closely resemble that of either a spotted or a wood turtle.
