• The Marginated Tortoise is native to Greece, Italy and the Balkans and is considered to be the largest European tortoise. They are very beautiful and a very hardy species that enjoy temperate climates. These tortoises are strict herbivores and their protein levels need to be kept low.
• They will flourish in your care if you understand their needs and give them attention and what they need to thrive! They have oblong shells that are noticeably thicker in the middle. Something that sets them apart is that the portion of the carapace protecting the tail is not divided, where you’ll find in most other tortoises that it is, making them a very unique species!

• Golden Greek Tortoises get their name from their light color, and scientists aren’t even exactly sure where they came from. They like to burrow and dig and should be kept in a dry, warm habitat. Generally very shy, the Greek Tortoises usually become more outgoing as they get used to their keeper’s activities, but they will continue to look for places to hide or bury themselves.
   
  A high fiber, low protein and calcium rich diet will ensure good digestive tract function and smooth growth. The Golden Greek Tortoises are very attractive animals. They tend to be small and have a bright yellow background with a few dark markings. Often the scales on the head and limbs are also brightly marked in yellow or a golden red!
