TORTOISES FOR ADOPTION Page 2 LARGER IMAGE
LARGER IMAGE | BABY INDIAN STAR TORTOISES GeocheloneElegans TORTOISES FOR SALE ADOPTION / EXPORT / EDUCATION The Indian Star Tortoise is native to dry areas and forests in India and Sri Lanka. The markings on the carapaces of these tortoises are like no other and pictures simply do not do these beautiful tortoises justice. It’s said that this species has specially adapted itself to be able to find a stable stance after being turned over and that their shape allows them to turn over naturally! These tortoises are quite finicky eaters and are considered to be only for the more advanced keepers that even have access to a veterinarian with experience in tortoise care. Their name comes from the striking star patterns prevalent on their shells which can vary based on the regions where particular hatchlings originated from.
Also be sure to check out the other Tortoises that we offer like the Sulcata Tortoise, Marginated Tortoise, and Leopard Tortoises to name a few. All orders come with a free Tortoise care sheet and set of adoption papers for framing. |

| Hermann's Tortoise Babies Testudo hermanni Hermann’s Tortoises are related to the Marginated Tortoises and are native to southern Europe. Their carapaces have an attractive black and yellow design and rarely grow any larger than 8 inches. Hermann’s Tortoises are herbivores and in the wild consume a wide variety of flowers, leaves, and plant stalks. Their natural diet is high in fiber and calcium, and low in protein and fat. A safe and secure outdoor habitat with plenty of sun is preferred, and it should be planted with a variety of edible weeds, wildflowers, and a little bermuda grass. A southern exposure for basking, and bushes and rocks for hiding will be greatly appreciated by the Hermann’s Tortoise. If an indoor habitat is used, it should mimic the suggestions for an outdoor habitat as much as possible. The Hermann’s Tortoise is very hardy, stays small, and is quite a friendly creature!

| Baby Leopard Tortoise Geochelone pardalis Found throughout the Savannas of Africa, the Leopard Tortoise is a very attractive tortoise known for its distinct and unique carapace markings. They thrive in semi-arid to dry grassland habitats. The distinct markings of the Leopard Tortoise’s shell act as camouflage in its natural habitat. With proper life-long care, most Leopard Tortoises grow to 15”-18” long and 30-50 lbs. When kept indoors, they require a large, open area and enjoy temperatures around 90 degrees, due to the climate of their natural habitats in their native African savannahs. These are beautiful tortoises that require a great deal of care, attentiveness and knowledge about the species.
